PlugWell Inc. was founded in 2024 by Elias Warholak, driven by a desire to make a meaningful impact. As a child, Elias dreamed of finding a way to bring about positive change but wasn’t sure how to turn his ideas into reality. When he discovered the environmental and health threats posed by orphaned oil and gas wells in America, he saw a clear path forward. Recognizing the danger these wells posed to homeowners and communities, Elias was inspired to take action. He established PlugWell Inc. to address this critical issue and make a difference in the lives of those affected.
What are the risks of unplugged wells?
Unplugged orphaned wells are silent threats that can severely impact both the environment and human health. These wells can leak toxic substances such as hydrogen sulfide, benzene, and arsenic into the ground and drinking water. These pollutants can accumulate over time, causing irreversible damage to the ecosystem and pose significant health risks to you and your loved ones. Addressing this can be an important step to ensuring the safety and well-being of your property.
What would this foundation do?
Plugwell will cover all the costs associated with sealing these dangerous wells on your property. We will engage professional, EPA-approved contractors who are licensed in your state. These specialists are insured and bonded, ensuring there is no liability risk to you. Our goal is to provide a seamless, worry-free experience while safeguarding your home and the environment.
I have a well on my property, what do I need to do?
Right now, all we need is your commitment of interest. By expressing your interest, you agree, at least in principle, to move forward once we have raised the necessary funds and to allow the contractors to perform the work on your property. These services will be provided entirely free of charge to you, funded by our non-profit organization. Your support will help us secure the resources needed to take action.
Why am I doing this?
While listening to a news story I stated looking into to the problem and discovered the staggering number of unplugged wells across the US, especially in Pennsylvania and Ohio. I was shocked to learn how many of these hazardous wells still exist. Motivated by a passion to make a tangible difference and prepare for college, I realized this is an area where I can truly help—by assisting homeowners in capping these wells and protecting our communities.
Together, we can make a significant impact on the environment and public health. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make your property safer and contribute to a cleaner, healthier world.
